Privacy Policy

Last updated 31 August 2026.

This page describes what Ridents records about you, why, and what it deliberately does not.

Account information

If you create an account, we store your name, email address, and a salted hash of your password — never the password itself. We send one verification email to confirm the address is real and reachable before you can submit a listing.

Listing submissions

If you submit a business, we store what you enter about it: name, website, category, location, description, and the contact details you provide for that business (which may differ from your own account email). This is published only once a submission is approved; until then it is visible only to our reviewers.

Search and browsing activity

  • The search text you enter, how many results it returned, and how long it took.
  • Which result was clicked, and the position it was shown at.
  • A salted hash of your session and IP address.

Two reasons we keep this. Searches that return nothing tell us what the directory is missing. Click data, measured against how often a listing was shown, is what keeps ranking honest.

What we do not store

We do not store raw IP addresses. Wherever an address needs to be checked — for rate-limiting or abuse detection — it is immediately hashed with a salt that rotates daily, so the hash is useful for spotting same-day abuse but does not become a long-lived identifier tying a person to their activity over time. We never sell personal data, and we do not run third-party advertising trackers.

Automated content review

Business submissions are automatically screened for spam and policy violations before publication. Most of this screening runs entirely on our own servers. For submissions that are genuinely borderline, the submitted text (business name, description, and similar listing fields — never your account password) may be sent to Anthropic's API for a second, automated opinion on whether the content is genuine and complies with our policies. This is used only to help decide whether to publish a listing; it is not used to build a profile of you, and Anthropic does not receive your account password or payment information because we do not collect the latter.

Cookies

One session cookie, used to keep you signed in and to protect forms against cross-site request forgery. No third-party analytics and no advertising trackers.

How long we keep data

Account and listing data is kept for as long as the account or listing is active. If you close your account, we remove or anonymise personal data within a reasonable period, except where a record must be kept longer for security, fraud-prevention, or legal reasons (for example, evidence behind a rejected submission).

Your choices

You can review and correct your account details from your dashboard. To request a copy of your data, ask us to delete it, or ask a question about how it is handled, contact us using the details on our Contact page. We will respond to legitimate requests within a reasonable time, subject to what we need to retain for the reasons above.

Children

The Service is intended for business use by adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above.
