नमक और सोडियम दोनों अलग होते है| नमक किडनी रोगीओ के लिए नहीं है सही | Foods High in Salt
During kidney disease, it is essential to be careful of the food a person consumes. Through food, the body receives minerals and nutrients essential for the functioning of the body. One such mineral that is found in our food is sodium. But a kidney patient should learn whether this mineral is good for their health or not.
When the kidneys are not healthy, they may not eliminate waste that gets produced because of the food consumed. The kidneys being unable to work properly, may not remove too much sodium from the body. With too much sodium, the body retains more water. This fluid retention in the cells and tissues increased the blood pressure rate and further pose a threat to the kidneys and their function. This water s**s depositing around the lungs and the heart and disturbs their working. It is common to observe edema in the patients whose body is retaining more water or fluid.
Also, people believe that sodium means salt only.
Kidney patients reduce salt in their diet and believe they are not taking too much sodium. Yes, salt is a good source of sodium, but it is not the only source. There are various foods that are rich in sodium, but not salty in taste. Many packaged foods are also rich in sodium, but they are not salty at all.
Only 10% of the sodium comes from salt and the rest comes from the preservatives or additives. These additives increase the taste of the food and their shelf lives. Cookies and cakes also have sodium in them that comes from the additive added to enhance their flavor. This means even the food that has sugar in them also have sodium content.
So, carefully watch the label of the food before buying and ask your dietician about the right quantity of the nutritional value so that your kidneys are not burdened.
